Our Story

Hey there 👋 We’re Deanna and Maggie - sisters, graphic designers, and mums who know the school rush all too well. Between packed lunches, missing hats, and last-minute dashes out the door, the last thing you need is a drink bottle that leaks or a lunchbox that won’t close. That’s why we started Spixal - a place for practical, durable, and well-designed school essentials that actually make life easier. And because we’re parents too, we’ve made sure everything works, lasts, and keeps up with real life (plus, a few fun things for us parents too).

Meet Deanna
Mum to two Wiradjuri boys Seth (22) & Leon (13) 🖤💛❤️. Leon was born at 27 weeks - a miracle baby - spending 4 months in neonatal care, but now a thriving high schooler! With one child through the school system and another still in it, Deanna has tried it all—she knows what’s worth buying and what just ends up lost in the bottom of the school bag.

Meet Maggie
Mum to Ava (4) & Jack (1). Ava’s transitioning from childcare to preschool. Now, with Ava in preschool, Maggie is figuring out the lunchbox life - what works (Vegemite sandwich = yes, wrap with beef = no thank you) and how much school bags go through every single day.

Why Spixal?
We’ve been there - rushing out the door every morning like it’s a fire drill, juggling kids, bags, snacks, keys, phones, and still trying to look half put-together… we've bought the school & lunch gear that doesn’t last, doesn’t fit, or just doesn’t work. And we found out we weren't alone, many Mum's, just like us wanted better quality, better functioning handbags, work bags, backpacks, lunch bags, bento boxes and drink wear for mums, kids and busy families..  

So, we created a solution to the problem many families faced by designing products that are so functional to use, so nice to look at and keeps you so organised that you'll want to use and reuse the products again and again.

As graphic designers, we love colour, creativity, and making things practical, fun, and built to last.
